Hi mother,
I am all well, how are you? I wish I could be home away from this conflict. I hope all is well with you. I have lost many friends and soldiers. I think this war should end now and that Abraham Lincoln should do something about it. There should be no slavery and no conflict between different races. We are destroying our land and everything that we have built. This isn't what America is, this isn't who we are and this should end now. Please send me a letter if anything happens. I don't want to be away from you and I want you to know that if anything happens, I couldn't ask for a better supporter, someone who is always there for me. Now I wish after all that you have done for me, that I could be there for you, away from this war. I hope to make it back home safely but until then, goodbye mother.
